RMIT Racing's 2007 Car, R07, represents a cleverly designed, well engineered, and extremely well manufactured racing vehicle. Despite the difficult shoes which the R07 challenger had to fulfill, it was designed and built as an evolution of RMIT Racings 2006 challenger, R06. It represents an extremely well refined vehicle in all aspects; from packaging to the chassis design optimization, and not to mention a highly developed Yamaha WR450 single cylinder engine. In December 2007, R07 competed at the FSAE-A Competition in Melbourne, Australia. While the car finished one place down on the podium from the previous year, RMIT Racing enjoyed their first competition win in the Design category of Formula SAE and also took out the prestigious Endurance and Fuel Economy events with a first class performance. RMIT Racing also took the 2006 car, R06, to the UK during mid 2007 to compete in FISITA world championships. Just as the car did in Australia late the previous year, R06 posted an outright win at the UK event. In light of victory in the UK, the R07 challenger will make its way to Detroit to defend the crown in May this year. RMIT Racing's 2008 team will continue to pursue this well proven, lightweight, single cylinder concept which has brought the team elevated levels of success over the past few years. The team will again focus on design optimization, whilst continuing to reduce the overall weight of the car and also putting significant focus on reliability. An extended development and testing period in 2008, as well as use of state-of-the-art CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering), CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) will see RMIT Racing produce an even more technically sophisticated, reliable, and design efficient vehicle for the 2008 FSAE-A event in December. Put all together, RMIT Racing believes this is the formula to continue the team's run of success, which has seen Australian, USA, and European Titles won by the team in the past three years with various cars. We will accept nothing less than this level of achievement this year and in the coming years, in order to achieve RMIT Racing's goals and objectives, as well as those of our sponsors, technical partners, and supporters.
